Honoring The Past
The Park at Beulah Walkable Community project in Columbus, Ohio, is a testament to the transformation of a historic landmark into a vibrant and modern mixed-use community. Beulah Park, originally Ohio's first horserace track, held a special place in the hearts of the community, operating from 1923 until its closure in 2014. In its newest chapter, the area has been reimagined as a walkable community, featuring housing, senior living facilities, and connecting parks that integrate seamlessly with Grove City's town center. CityScapes is honored to be a part of this endeavor, breathing new life into the Beulah Park area.
Our Approach
When CityScapes embarked on this project, they knew that it was essential to pay tribute to the site's rich history while creating something contemporary and functional. The project's primary focus was to develop signage that would harmonize with the memorial sculpture dedicated to the iconic horserace track. To meet the project's objectives, CityScapes collaborated with the Facemyer Company to design and manufacture two distinctive signs that fulfilled the Architect’s design requirements and helped the client save time and money.
The Outcome
The result is a beautiful marriage of history and modernity, as the signs act as a bridge between The Park at Beulah's storied past and its promising future as a walkable community. These signs contribute to the sense of place and identity, commemorating the significance of the site's heritage and helping residents and visitors connect with the history that lies beneath their feet.
