Project Goal

The client’s goal was to create an outdoor living space that would incorporate her love of outdoor gardening and houseplants. She previously had a live wall but wanted to incorporate the texture of exposed brick into her yard. The design the client was seeking was adding softness and greenery to the building's urban exterior. They also wanted to create an aesthetically appealing space to enjoy the outdoors while increasing the amount of space to garden. She came to CityScapes® to design a custom NatureScreen® trellis to meet these needs.

The Process

Since the project was for a residential customer, price was a significant consideration. To approach the client's needs, CityScapes® provided the client with a couple of different options regarding both style and pricing. Her final design incorporates our NatureScreen® Single Mesh Trellis system with 6-gauge wire for lasting strength and durability. The 4” x 2” wire mesh and frame were then powder-coated in our Nighthawk finish. The client wanted to increase the number of potted plants she could grow rather than just adding climbing plants. Custom hanging baskets were created with our 4” x 2” wire mesh to address this need. This idea adds a whole new level of versatility to NatureScreen®, our trellises are no longer limited to climbing plants only.

The Final Product

The project featuring NatureScreen® and custom hanging baskets was a successful venture for both the client and CityScapes®. By meeting the client's needs while also considering cost, the team created a stunning and functional outdoor living space that incorporated her love of gardening. While this project was residential, the use of products such as NatureScreen and custom mesh baskets can easily be translated to commercial or public spaces making it an incredibly versatile product to consider for your next project.
