Envisor®

1. Do the Envisor products have any effect on the warranty of the equipment they screen?

We have not had any equipment manufacturer indicate the addition of Envisor screens will void their warranty. Additionally, we have worked closely with major suppliers to accommodate any concerns and gain their approvals.

2. Is airflow to the RTU impeded by the addition of an Envisor equipment screen?

No, our engineers design project-specific accommodations for any RTU performance features added to each piece of equipment.

3. What are the types of Envisor equipment screens currently available?

Currently, two standard models are available: the Vertical System and the Canted System. Both can screen RTUs from 2 ton to over 300 ton in size. We will also design and manufacture custom screens to fit your project.

4. Can I screen multiple pieces of equipment on a rooftop together?

Yes, however, the RTUs must be positioned close enough to each other to allow for “Twinning”, or the equipment may already be “nested” together on a steel substructure.

5. What are the product’s wind load specifications?

We have had a licensed engineer stamp product drawings to meet 150-mph wind load requirements with some product modifications. Generally, our engineers allow for 80-mph wind loads.

6. What if only two sides of the RTU can be viewed from the street?

Certain applications may allow for partial screening solutions. Please contact us for more details.

7. Do the Envisor panels require any cleaning or maintenance?

Typically, no. The finishes we apply are comparable to those used in the automotive industry, and though not required, would benefit from a manufacturer’s suggested cleaning routine based on local environmental conditions.

8. How difficult is it to perform routine service on the RTUs?

Access to the RTUs electrical disconnect and service doors should not require any significant additional time or labor by the service technician to perform routine maintenance.

9. Do custom colors cost more?

Since Envisor standard panels have the color already co-extruded, nominal charges will be incurred, usually based on quantity. Manufacturing lead times may also change. Our in-house custom color match system gives us the ability to match virtually any preferred finish. Please contact us directly for more specific information.

10. What type of information is required to quote and order an Envisor equipment screen?

Since we have fabricated product to screen equipment manufactured by most of the RTU suppliers, a make and model number is a good start. Generally, some additional questions will be required to identify any equipment enhancements, such as economizers, and power vents. We also suggest completing our (PDF) Envisor Information Sheet prior to ordering.

11. What is the typical lead time necessary to receive Envisor product?

Under normal circumstances, engineering and manufacturing should take no longer than 6-8 weeks. Certain “custom” applications may require more time. Lead times can be assigned at time of quotation.

12. Does your organization provide field installation?

Yes, several sources and types of installation plans can be made available. Factory assisted installation is always available.

13. We are required to procure three different quotations in the bidding process. Who are your direct competitors?

Because of patent protection, there are no other companies that provide a complete pre-engineered solution like Envisor, eliminating rooftop penetrations. Many different manufactured components can be purchased and installed to simulate the desired effect. You can advise in your specifications that alternates will be accepted, provided they match the intentions of the specified system. Call or contact us to receive a quote on equipment screens.

Covrit®

1. What is the widest screen wall size I can order?

It depends on which infill material you chose. Our standard AcryliCap screen walls are 6′ 5″ wide with the ability to be re-sized/cut down on site and our Metal Series can span as wide as 9′ between posts. Woodgrain textured PVC infill is available up to 8’ wide in increments of 6”.  Please contact us directly at1-877-727-3367 with any unique requests and our design staff can quickly evaluate to provide answers or suggestions; usually within 48 hours.

2. What is the widest gate size I can order?

Using a left or right hinge door, the maximum free swinging gate width is 12′ wide. By using assist rollers on a smooth concrete surface under the door swing path you can increase the maximum single door width to 16′. Send us your specs and our project managers can assist in analyzing your needs. Contact us and provide your contact information, or call us at 1-877-727-3367, to get started on your project.

3. How tall can my enclosure be?

Our typical screen walls and gates are less than 10′ tall but we have produced several projects up to 14′ tall. If you have a project that requires a wall or gate taller than 14′ please contact our project managers to discuss a custom order. We love a challenge.

4. Can I customize the size of the enclosure?

Yes, the entire line of CityScapes products can be made to your specifications. We begin with a selection of standard options to choose from, but if your needs are custom, we will work with you to identify the best options for your specific project. Most of our products are able to be re-sized in the field, so in many cases we can supply a standard sized part that can be trimmed on site to fit your specific project needs…just another one of the great advantages of CityScapes screening solutions.

5. Can I get material/color samples?

9. Can I have my logo shown on my gate?

Yes, we can produce gates with custom designs, such as logos, provided that your local sign codes allow it. Some codes consider brand logos as additional signage. While your logo design may not trigger a sign code violation, this type of customization should be researched to avoid disappointment.

10. Can I buy gate hinges only?

Yes, the entire line of CityScapes products are available for individual purchase.

11. Can I lock a gate latch?

Yes, locks can be added to our gate latches.

12. Do I have to buy the bollards?

Interior bollards are included with a full Covrit enclosure. Exterior bollards are highly recommended, but are not required.

13. What is included in the installation kit?

The installation kit contents depend on your order. Most kits include everything necessary to install our complete enclosure system to an existing pad. Depending on the project components, even the most complicated configurations require just a hammer drill, a set of socket and open-end wrenches, and a screw gun with a few common bits and drivers. Our instruction manual provides a step-by-step guide to construct your screening system.

14. How long will it take to install myself?

Time to install will depend on the size and complexity of the system. For example, our standard pad-mounted 1100 Model Covrit enclosure, including screen walls and gates, can be installed by two people in less than a day.

15. Are special tools required for installation?

No special tools are required to install our systems. Even the most complicated projects only require a hammer drill, a set of socket and open-end wrenches, and a screw gun with a few common bits and drivers. Our instruction manual outlines the necessary tools and the step-by-step process involved to install your system.

16. Why do I need to set the direct burial items?

We originally designed our screen wall system to use J-bolts in a concrete pad during the initial pour, or we would direct bury the posts as one might when building a fence. We later revised our design to use epoxy-based Hilti bolts installed in the concrete pad after the initial pour. While either method is acceptable, we have found the Hilti bolts to be a big time saver for the installers.

Traditionally, gate posts have been direct buried for strength. New designs on the 1100 and 1300 Model Covrit Series enclosures eliminate the need for direct burial of any Covrit screen wall or ToughGate components; all parts can mount directly to an existing concrete pad, including the gate supports.

17. How do I set enclosure posts when my pad is existing?

Our latest and easiest method of installation is to use Hilti epoxy adhesive anchors for an existing pad. We will supply all the parts you need.

18. Which is better to use for ground-mounted equipment; Envisor or Covrit?

Covrit was designed for ground-mounted applications and includes its own heavy duty aluminum posts, screen walls, and gates. Our Envisor system was designed to mount directly to an HVAC unit, or other similarly designed roof structure, or existing roof supports. If an HVAC unit is ground-mounted, Envisor or Covrit could be an option depending on your overall appearance preference.

20. Do you provide installation?

Yes, we offer turnkey installation. Your project manager can arrange all of the details for your install if you choose to utilize this service.

21. What is your lead time?

26. Will my enclosure fade over time?

Our PVC planks will outperform wood and composite materials requiring no upkeep with minimal fading (warranty provided at time of purchase). AcryliCap ABS offers great tolerance to UV exposure and performs well in all climates.

27. Will the wood grain textured planks grow mold or mildew?

Our wood grain textured planks are composed of 100% cellular PVC which does not support mold or mildew growth. No moisture can penetrate into the material, which is one of the main reasons people love this product. Spores simply cannot take hold and penetrate the planks. However, if dirt or other debris is left on the wall for an extended period of time, that debris could grow mold and would simply need to be sprayed off.

28. Does the wood grain textured PVC expand or contract?

The PVC planks used in our products will expand and contract because of heat, unlike real wood which expands because of moisture. Our wall system design allows for expansion or contraction in the installation process.

While PVC products can be painted with water based paint, we do not recommend this as it will void the warranty. Posts and decorative aluminum stiffeners can be painted any color. Just provide a Sherwin Williams or Pantone code and we’ll match it.

4. Can I get samples of Planx PVC panels?

The wood grain textured cellular PVC used in our Planx planters is available in many colors. Our project managers will send you samples of any color you choose.
